WOMAN ADVOCATE
Purita “Poyen” Pineda-David
Program Director of Ing Makababaying Aksyon (IMA)

WHERE IT BEGAN
A Commitment to Women’s Rights
Poyen’s journey in advocacy began in 2001 when she became a Gender & Development Officer for the Angeles City Government. For nearly a decade, she worked to advance programs and policies focused on women’s health, economic empowerment, and rights.
Her work placed women’s concerns at the center of local discussions, helping create spaces where their voices could be heard and their needs addressed.
FROM LOCAL ACTION TO NATIONAL ADVOCACY
From Women’s Voices to Policy
Poyen’s advocacy eventually reached beyond Angeles City. From 2009 to 2010, she served as a Consultant in the Office of External Affairs under the Office of the President in Malacañang, contributing to policy work focused on gender equality and social justice.
Her experience in government gave her a broader platform to bring women’s concerns into conversations about policy, development, and social change.
