OUR TEAM
The People Behind IMA
Behind IMA’s work are people who have dedicated themselves to advancing the well-being, rights, and potential of women and communities.

FOUNDER
Susan Pineda
Susan Pineda is a human rights activist, feminist, and the founder of Ing Makababaying Aksyon (IMA) Foundation. Her journey in advocacy grew from her own experience of violence and displacement following the 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. She went on to organize women in her community and build IMA as a space for women affected by gender-based violence to find support, empowerment, and a path forward.
Her work has since extended into women’s rights, gender and development, policy advocacy, humanitarian work, and immigrant and human rights advocacy.
PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Purita “Poyen” Pineda-David
Purita “Poyen” Pineda-David is a passionate advocate for women’s rights and empowerment and serves as Program Director of IMA Foundation. Her advocacy began through her work in gender and development in the Angeles City Government, where she championed women’s health, economic empowerment, and rights.
Through years of work in government, community advocacy, and IMA, Poyen has continued to bring women’s voices into spaces where policies and programs are shaped.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE WORK
The Work Continues Through Many Hands
Beyond its leadership, IMA’s work is strengthened by advocates, volunteers, community leaders, partners, and people who continue to show up for women and communities. Together, they help turn IMA’s mission into action.
