Purita "Poyen" Pineda-David

Purita David is a passionate advocate for women’s rights and empowerment, dedicating her life to uplifting marginalized communities.

As the Program Director of Ing Makababaying Aksyon (IMA) Foundation, Inc., she leads initiatives that create real, lasting change for women in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Her journey in advocacy began in 2001 when she took on the role of Gender & Development Officer for the Angeles City Government. For nearly a decade, she championed policies and programs focused on women’s health, economic empowerment, and rights, ensuring their voices were heard at the local level.

Beyond local government, Poyen has also made an impact on national policy. As a Consultant in the Office of External Affairs under the Office of the President in Malacañang (2009-2010), she helped shape policies promoting gender equality and social justice.

Her commitment to the cause has been evident in her long-standing work with the IMA Foundation, where she served as Secretary from 2001 to 2018. Today, as a Board Member and Program Director, she continues to drive transformative projects in gender equality, education, and economic development.

Purita’s influence extends beyond organizations—she is also the National Anti-Poverty Commission Representative (NAPC) as Women Basic Sector in Angeles City and NGO Representative in Pampanga. Since 2001, she has brought the voices of women to national-level discussions, ensuring their needs and aspirations are at the forefront of policymaking.

With a deep well of experience, a strategic mindset, and an unyielding commitment to social justice, Poyen David is not just a leader—she is a force for change in the fight for gender equality in the Philippines.
